    Opportunities to Get Involved

    • Come join us for a class and community event at the Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center.
    • Volunteer with us either as an individual or as a group. It can be a one day event or a regular commitment. We have numerous opportunities for you to practice cultivating a green thumb with others.
    • Partner with us to bring nature and gardening to bring nature programs to your schools, groups, or organizations.
    • Rent a bed of your own for the season—No experience necessary. Get rooted in community together!

    The mission of the Spruce Street Community Gardens is to create vibrant, safe, and equitable spaces within our parks for individuals to learn and collaboratively practice growing their own food.

    Vision Statement
    To support a sovereign food system and facilitate community-wide health & wellness through a robust combination of community garden spaces, educational gardens, and low-cost nature-based programs for individuals of all ages.

    Our Goals

    • Alleviate hunger and food insecurity within our neighborhoods through community gardening;
    • Empower individuals to become more self-sufficient through equitable access to growing spaces & supportive educational programming;
    • Collaborate with residents of the surrounding neighborhoods and local community groups to enhance gardening education and outreach;
    • Contribute to community-wide holistic health and wellness through nature-based programming;
    • Enhance connections between individuals and groups by fostering a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all individuals can grow.
