The Recreation Division is committed to increasing public awareness around swimming lessons and swim safety and ensuring access to programs and facilities for all Manchester residents. All lifeguards are American Red Cross Certified, and have undergone extensive training to ensure the safety of all community members using our swimming facilities.

Drowning is the second-leading cause of accidental death for children under 14 in the United States. Research has shown that formal swimming lessons reduce the risk of childhood drowning by 88%. Swim lessons are life-saving resources, critical to public health and well-being, and should be taught year-round.     Our Globe Hollow lifeguards were put to the test this week during a surprise “live audit”! 💪🌊 Given a high-stakes scenario, they had to think on their feet and work closely with the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Fire Department, and the Ambulance Service of Manchester to respond in real time. 🚓🚑

    This year’s drill was extra special — the Connecticut State Police Dive Team joined the action! 🤿

    It was amazing to see our community come together to enjoy our aquatic facilities. We are so grateful to have a great community like ours!

    Additionally, congratulations to all of our swimmers who passed their levels! Moi the Koi is very proud of all of you!
